Material
Crafted with the use of premium alloy steel, the 3-3/8" O.D. Top Subs are designed to withstand the harsh environments normally found in the operation of oil and gas wells. The use of alloy steel ensures higher strength, wear and corrosion resistance, and superior operation at high pressures. The material goes through a further enhancement of a heat treatment that increases the hardness of the material and enhances the fatigue and wear resistance of the top subs. Production Processes
1. Forging: High-quality ingots of steel are forged into the overall shape of the sub and offer a good starting place for the final product.
2. Machining: Using CNC technology, the top sub is machined with the intention of cutting and sizing it accurately.
3. Heat Treatment: The machined part goes through a heat treatment that hardens the metal and raises the strength of the part against wear and tear, fatigue and temperature stresses.
4. Thread Cutting: The top and bottom threads (2-3/4"-6Acme-2G and 2-13/16"-6Acme-2G) are expertly cut to the strict specifications with state-of-the-art thread-cutting technology
5. Surface Treatment: The subs are machined and ground smooth with smooth surfaces and threading in order not to experience installation friction and leave a top-quality finish behind.
